Quickie!

Here's an epic picture from the latest Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler chapter!

I love Kuroshitsuji, I really do. Even though the second season of the anime was somewhat tough to get through. Perserverence really does pay off in the end in this case!

Quick update: Yes, I'm still in school. Yes, that means not many blogs for a while. Sorry, I'll try to do at least one a month!

Have a good day! <3

Hey!

Monthly update time!

Since school has started for me (uuuuuuuugh), I won't be able to do many reviews or rants for a while. There's proofs to be proven and books to be annotated and it's all just a big heap of work. HOPEFULLY, there will be time in the upcoming month for an awesome blog. Until then, take care and I'll see you later.

P.S. If you can't wait that long, here are other places you can see my stuff...

Random PoT Episode Rant (67)

Hello! Today's random Prince of Tennis Rant episode is....Episode 67, the second part of the Atobe vs Tezuka match! The opening song is Make You Free and the ending song is White Line (my personal favorite~). Now let's just get on into it! (note: this will consist of a lot of script rewrites...)

NOTE: I love Prince of Tennis, really. It's just fun to make fun of. :)

The match starts off with intense close ups of Atobe, Tezuka, and RYOMA? Well, of course they HAD to do it, he's the PRINCE OF TENNIS! Then there are the tennis shots...more tennis shots...more te- WAIT, Atobe EVIL GLARE

Atobe: *evil glare attack*
Tezuka: ...

Now the series of face shots. First Seigaku (no bias here), then Hyotei, then another glare from Atobe?

Atobe: *evil glare attack again*
Tezuka: ....Yudan sezu ni ikou (the phrase that will never be taken seriously ever again)

Apparently, the match has been going on for an hour and a half. Can you believe having to watch that match? I feel so bad for the watchers! I bet one of them is like, "DUDES, HURRY UP. I have a show to get to that's starting soon!"

Ryoma: Show me what you got, Tezuka-buchou

After more epic tennis shots, this comes along...
Inui: I give up
Everyone: WHAT?
Inui: I meant the data
Everyone: Oh...wait WHAT?
Kaidoh and Momo: Like *insert explanation*....yeah.
Everyone: OOOOOOOH!
Eiji: Geez Inui! Don't be so ambiguious!!!
The moral of the story: What happens in ambiguity, stays in ambiguity. (quote off of a mental floss t-shirt)

Anyway, back to the match!!!
Ryoma: Mada mada dane
Tezuka: Sorry Atobe, but I'm gonna take your spot at the Nationals
Look who's cocky now!
*insert MASS CHARACTER SHOTS*
Wait, wait, wait...what's with all of those character shots and having Sengoku and Canada Sanada say the last two lines before the epic tennis shots?

Saeki: Show me what you got, Atobe
(Ryoma in my head: YOU STOLE MY LINE)
Ryoma in anime: *smirk*

Pause, there is something very important in this episode. The Rikkaidai Red uniforms. Brilliant and beautiful, it's a shame that they were taken out. Let's have a moment of silence...Okay, back to the game

*insert weird Rondo to Destruction animation*
Tezuka: ...*Tezuka Zone* (note: Tezuka apparently has his own gravitational field that he can activate in tennis. Interesting...)
*insert USELESS COMMENTARY here*
Atobe: Don't get too cocky!!! (Thanks Atobe for saying it for me!)
Tezuka: ...*hits ball back*
(Atobe in my head: OMG WHAT? *runs for ball* CRAP ZERO SHIKI SHOT)
Atobe: ...is he SERIOUS?
Let's see a shot of Tezuka's face....Okay, according to this shot, Tezuka could be either serious, non-serious, happy, sad, mad, embarrassed, nervous, calm, or any other emotion. So We can't answer you Atobe, sorry.

FLYING ATOBE! I knew I liked him for something!

Oh no, it's going in slow motion! Could it be time?
BAM! Red screen of PAIN!
Everyone within a 5 mile radius of court: GASPEH.
Tezuka: ...*clutches shoulder*
Wait a minute! Wasn't it supposed to be his elbow? (correct me if I'm wrong folks)
Continuing...(with extra drama)
Everyone: OMG D8
Seigaku: *runs towards their precious captain*
Tezuka: GO AWAY
Everyone: GASPEH *faints a little*
Atobe: gr....*insulted*
Tezuka: ...*looks like he's gonna continue*
Everyone: DON'T DO IT!
Tezuka: ...*flexes arm*
Everyone: DON'T DO IT!!!!
*Oishi and Tezuka staredown*
Oishi: blah blah blah (something about Yamato Tamato)
*cheesy flashback, inspirational quotes from the Seigaku team with their jersey flowing in the invisible wind...*
*second Oishi Tezuka staredown*
Oishi: You should do it.
Everyone: WAIT WHAT???? *faints a little more*
Ryoma: *smirk*
(note: some of the above might have been paraphrased)

TAKA! Let's talk about Taka. He is awesome and he doesn't get enough love. TAKA IS FREAKING AWESOME PEOPLE SO GIVE HIM MORE LOVE!
Taka: *waves flag* FIGHT!! FIGHT!! SEIGAKU!
Ryuzaki: Um...you just got back from the hospital...
Taka: *ignores and continues* (this is why he is awesome)

Ryoma then goes and warms up ('cause he totally has faith in his buchou...*rolls eyes*) Momo goes too (because he also has complete faith in their buchou....*rolls eyes*)

Ryuzaki: How come we have all stubborn people in the club? They all go for the spur of the moment...
Ryoma: You're praising me too much :) *walks away*

Did anyone else notice that Tezuka has a white racket and that Atobe's racket sorta matches his hair, except bluer? Weird...(you'd expect black from this series but whatever)

The rest of the episode goes a bit like this...
EPIC TENNIS
EPIC MEANINGFUL NOD FOR WARMING UP
EPIC SKY TRANSITION
EPIC TENNIS
EPIC TEZUKA GLASSES GLARE *ding*
EPIC TENNIS
MORE TAKA LOVE
Taka: Don't give up! ;u;
EPIC RED SCREEN
Atobe: Ah, you're in pain
EPIC BUTT SHOT ...wait what?
EPIC TENNIS
EPIC TRANSLATION FAIL (Sanada: Return aces twice?)
EPIC EMPHESIS ON TEZUKA LOSING
EPIC EMPHESIS ON ATOBE WINNING
Atobe: Why are you so determined? Who would have known that you had such a reckless side? *insert more rambling about Tezuka*
EPIC TENNIS BALL BLOCKING THE SUN
EPIC TENNIS BALL HEADING TOWARDS TEZUKA'S FACE
Tezuka: ...*staredown*
EPIC LAST SHOT OF RYOMA ('cause he's the PRINCE OF TENNIS)

And...scene!

Join me next time on a Random PoT Episode Rant! :)

Death Note Review

Name: Death Note
Manga/Anime: Both
Author: Tsugumi Ohba
Genre: Supernatural, Psychological, Thriller, Mystery
Status: Complete
Story:
Light Yagami
is an intelligent young man who resents what appears to be a relentless increase of crime and corruption in the world around him. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light plans to become a god and establish a new world order by passing his keen judgment on those he deems evil and anyone who gets in his way.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (キラ?, derived from the typical Japanese pronunciation of the English word "killer"), is located in Japan. He also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a nuanced game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins. (quoted from Wikipedia)
My Rating: 5/5 Stars

My Review: This is a really good series for those who like to read something that is supernatural, that makes you really ponder the difference between good and evil, and that makes you wonder when the evil will be captured. This is also a really good example of conflicting morals.

Take "Kira" for example. He kills criminals to attempt to create a utopia. Is this type of mass murder justified because of this fact? This is the main question that people wonder as they read.

Angel Beats! Review

Name: Angel Beats!
Manga/Anime: Anime (It's a visual novel and a 4-koma comic published in Japanese magazines)
Author: Jun Maeda
Genre: Action, Drama, Comedy, Fantasy
Status: Complete
Story: Angel Beats! takes place at a high school acting as a Purgatory, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before continuing to an afterlife or reincarnation. While the injury or cause of death are gone, those in the afterlife school can still feel pain or other things as they did when they were alive, as well as dying again, only to awaken with no injures several minutes later. The story follows the main protagonist Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. Upon awakening in the afterlife, he meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the Shinda Sekai Sensen (SSS) (死んだ世界戦線?, lit. Afterlife War Front), an organization she founded and leads which fights against God for the cruel fates the SSS members experienced in life. Their only enemy in the world is the school's student council president Angel, a being with supernatural powers who fights against the SSS. Yuri believes that anyone who follows Angel's orders and behaves like a normal student at the school will eventually disappear and pass on to Heaven. However, those who fulfill their dreams in the afterlife will pass on as well. (quoted from Wikipedia)
My Rating: 5/5 stars

My Review:

Just remembering the last episode of this series just makes me want to tear up. It is such a good anime series to watch. Is there anything else to say? Techinically no, but I probably should explain my reasoning.

Angel Beats! has the same components that either make or break an anime. The story, the characters, the art, and the impression left on the audience. This anime passes every single test in these areas. The story is unique, even if you've seen one that is set in the same way. It never gets old, not only because it is only 13 episodes long, but the plot twists make it interesting while correlating to the overall plot. The characters are all specially unique in their own way with their own life stories, personalities, and impact on the story. I wish that they could expand on more of the characters, but the main ones were covered in a beautiful way. The art is consistantly amazing. There are no parts that the artist got lazy (unlike in Prince of Tennis where there are some spots that are very sloppy).

Then there is the impression left on the audience. I love a good anime that has a very very very wonderful lesson to take from it and an anime that can move me. Angel Beats! does both. Not only does it have a beautiful life lesson that you should take to heart, it will move you to tears. There are just those moments that makes you ache for a character or just feel really sad.

This anime is very captivating and really really really really....good. Uuuuggh, I just LOVE it to death!!! Need I say more?

Kuroshitsuji Review

Name: Kuroshitsuji
English Name: Black Butler
Manga/Anime: Both
Author: Yana Toboso
Genre: Supernatural, Comedy, Drama
Status: Ongoing
Story: In a manor house on the outskirts of Victorian era London, butler Sebastian Michaelis serves Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of an English noble family and a toy and candy empire, who serves directly under the Queen. Sebastian carries out any task required by his master while solving the problems plaguing England with ease and perfection, because of his demonic lineage and Faustian contract with his master. (again, thanks Wikipedia!)
My Rating: 4.5/5 stars

My Review:

Again, this was another series that completely blew me away. Even though, like PoT, the anime was frustrating at some parts (more on that later), it was a really well constructed story. The plot and characters were original and unique in their own special way.

The storyline was very original to me. I mean a demon butler and a bratty little head of the family? Amazing! But more can be said about the characters. Take Ciel for example. Some would say that he is a heartless murderer when it comes to his duties as the Queen's "guard dog", but his past just makes you want to feel really sorry for him. It was rough and it was a cruel past as well, so it almost seemed reasonable as to why he wanted revenge. It is also interesting to look into the other character's point of view of Ciel and how they think of him, like Elizabeth. She knows the pain since she had seen it ever since "the incident". The characters are very close knit, they are all connected by one simple thread, and that is how the storyline can work.

Now, the anime. The beginning was pretty much straight from the manga. But then, when it caught up to the unfinished part of the story, it takes an odd turn. Suddenly, it's a demon versus fallen angel sort of thing and it just seems so...weird. But the ending was very beautiful and bittersweet.
